These Seven Tips Will Make Your Packing Hassle-Free
Traveling to a warm climate? Hate to pay fees to check luggage? Use these seven tips on packing vital clothing and accessories in your carry-on bags.

My Packing List for Traveling to Warmer Climates with Carry On Only
I like to place the bulkiest items out to see so that I can assess how much space they will take up. I wear my dressy pair of sandals on the flights (and maybe it is a bit tacky to wear tights or pantyhose with them, but it feels more appropriate if I am traveling during a cooler time of the year.

My Packing List for Traveling to Warmer Climates with Carry On Only
I lay out my clothes. First I choose the bulkiest or dressiest of the clothes as my outfit to wear on the plane, along with the cardigan or light jacket that I am bringing with me. Then I simply lay out the rest of the clothes to get an idea as to whether they will all fit, and amend my list if necessary. I either hand wash, or have my clothes laundered half way into a two week trip.

My Packing List for Traveling to Warmer Climates with Carry On Only
I have been using baggies as a space saver for years. Plus it keeps items sealed and pretty much waterproofed. The great thing about baggies is you can fit your jewelry and makeup in one and keep it separate from your clothes that way. Plus a small, filled baggy can easily fit into side pockets of a backpack so this is how I store my essentials!

My Packing List for Traveling to Warmer Climates with Carry On Only
I find that rolling my clothes as I pack them not only helps keep the wrinkles down, but is a great space saver too. If a shirt has straps, I use them to help roll that shirt even tighter. Same thing goes for sleeves. You can maximize your space constraints by giving it a roll.

My Packing List for Traveling to Warmer Climates with Carry On Only
As I roll up my clothes, I start packing them around the shoes that are gracing the bottom of the bag, and then keep filling space. The items that are small but not in baggies fill in gaps, while at the same time I pack the hardiest of the items such as capri pants towards the bottom as well.

My Packing List for Traveling to Warmer Climates with Carry On Only
Took a picture before the final zip up to show that there was actually room to spare in my backpack. I do travel very light, but with enough items to suit pretty much any occasion on a trip. I also like to leave a little room in case I have any last minute additions. As a final note, I try to pack a few clothes items that I will not miss if I throw them away at the end of a trip. This way, I create room in my carry on luggage for souvenirs.
