Reviews of Lentil Pate
I was at a loss with what to do with some leftover red lentils I had. I made a double batch and the recipe went down a treat with everyone in the household.I have also made a variation with wild garlic instead of the usual garlic. Just leaves out the garlic and replace with about 10 leave of wild garlic if you fancy it.
Reviews of Lye-Cured Green Olives
I would recommend that you watch your olives close since if you allow them to become too soft they will rot real fast. So when they tell you about the 3rd use of the lye I would question that fact very close other wise I have used this recipe for many years myself with great luck. Good luck on your olive curing. Rick

Reviews of Lentil Hazelnut Garden Burgers
These were fantastic. it saved us from a boring lent. our eggs were small, so i added an extra one. i mashed the cooked lentils a bit as well. it is a taste preference, i would add chopped garlic to the next batch. you don.t miss the beef at all.The size of the burgers were generous. We got 19 out of the batch. i only had walnuts for this batch. i am sure that the hazelnut version would be equally delicious. Thanks for the great recipe.

Reviews of Turducken Recipe
The details in this recipe are fantastic with the photos for de-boning the meat. I did use all three stuffings and it was worth doing. I do suggest cutting off the the wings completely to the duck and the chicken to make carving much easier. I also used butcher's string instead of the skewers but that is personal choice. You might want to set your time to about 5 hours, even on pure convection at 300 degrees. What did it taste like? Let's just say that the turducken is now a perpetual thing in our community! You will not be disappointed.
Reviews of Italian Wedding Soup Recipe

Reviews of Classic Yellow Cake
This is by far the best yellow cake recipe I have ever made. I do A LOT of baking for family and friends and this recipe is great for cakes, cupcakes, etc. I also add melted chocolate to some of the batter and swirl it in to the cake batter to make a nice marbled cake. I would definitely try it if you are wanting a nice, moist cake recipe. It's one of our favorites!
Reviews of Fig Raisin Spice Cake
What a great use of our figs! I've made this cake twice in the past 2 days. My whole family loves it & it's gone before I know it. Tastes like a sweet spike cake. It's very moist, quick and easy to make. I'm bringing it to our neighborhood's block party today. Thanks for sharing!
Reviews of Chocolate Beet Cake
Just the title sounds gross, but you can't even taste the beets! the beets give this recipe great texture and beautiful color. Top it off with a smooth butter-chocolate icing and you have yourself a delicious, beautiful cake that people will love! I fed it to my sewing class, (without telling them what was in it.) and they loved it! They all asked for a copy of the recipe, and were suprised that it had beets in it! A great recipe, especially for those who grow beets. it is a great way to use them and make that chocolate cake less guiltful.

Amazing texture and flavor! I highly recommend this recipe. The orange zest and sherry-soaked raisins (rather than figs or prunes) add an enticing complexity, and the ricotta creates perfect texture. I will definitely make this for the holidays.
Reviews of Soft Molasses Cookies
I made these cookies as the recipe says minus the walnuts and rasins. The bake time for my oven was off by 5 mins. I cut it down to a 10 minute bake time. So GOOD! These cookies are fluffy and cake like. I expected a flat thinner cookie then what I got, and I was pleasantly surprised. These cookies are not super sweet either. They have a strong molasses flavor. The coffee and mustard, I thought was strange, but it works! I do not know the yeild as I am still baking them. I have 4 doz so far and still dough left. I'm guessing i'll have 6 doz. plus.
Reviews of Emeril's Worcestershire Sauce
absolutely amazing and perfect for the Irish Stew! (not only though)
Reviews of Cr. Cheese Macadamia Cookies
These cookies, as the person above me said, taste like absolutely nothing... I would highly suggest that nobody make these. We even added white chocolate chips and it did not help. Also thought it was odd that the recipe calls for no eggs...
Reviews of Maple Syrup Substitute
We used this recipe when we ran out of syrup in class...during our pour batter lab...imagine waffles w/o syrup! Remember to keep the white sugar low enough to not burn. SIMMER long enough to thicken! The kids were satisfied!!!
Reviews of Tomato Ketchup
This ketchup came out great. It has a very unique taste which is not like the supermarket stuff but is still definitely ketchup. The amount of cayenne merely gives depth to the tomatoes. Add more if you want to get a spicier product. I took off one star because the ketchup came out too runny. It says that it will be a bit runny but this was close to unusable. I put it back on the stove and added another dose of corn starch dissolved in water. It is now what I consider
Reviews of Rosemary Mint Wine Jelly
I made this following the recipe and then I made it using my own twist. I like the look of a few chopped herbs floating in the jelly, and I put a whole mint leaf in it. The second batch I made I added a bit more rosemary and less mint. It is a wonderful combination of flavor! More rosemary offsets the sweetness. Next time, I think I'll add a little bit of jalapeno to it, too.
Reviews of Chicken Spaghetti Squash
Very tasty and easy to make. The ingredients were reasonably standard and on hand. The directions were accurate. There was some flexibility in the timing. The preparation of the other ingredients could all be done while the squash was cooking. It could be done more quickly if the squash was cut in half and baked for a shorter period of time but it's harder to cut it raw.
Reviews of KFC Fried Chicken
While the pressure fryer can be a pain, it really adds to the succulent texture of the chicken. Another option is to fry for 15 minutes and then bake (350 degrees) the chicken for another 25 minutes - it gives a similiar texture. I found out from an employee that the chicken is held in a special oven after frying. The chili gives the chicken more of a Mexican food recipe. I have found using sweet paprika instead of chili powder works for an original recipe flavor, while adding a small dash of hot sauce works for a crispy spicy flavor (but not the texture). Optional is a tsp of sugar in the batter.
Reviews of Make Yogurt
Yogurt is formed by the growth of two bacterial organisms in milk; Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus which turn the milk sugars into lactic acid. These are two separate bacteria that are active at different times during processing. Some times you will also find yogurt that contains other
Reviews of Lemon Marmalade
Fantastic recipe. I had copious amounts of fresh lemons but had been told that it was n ot possible to make just a Lemon Marmalade - how wrong - I followed the recipe to the letter - nothing could have been easier. 8 large lemons yielded 8 x 750grm jars. I did use a thermometer which made setting point easier. I gave away my first batch and am now in the process of making further batches to give away as Christmas presents. Thank you Regards.
Reviews of Classic Banana Pudding
I searched this site for a Banana Pudding recipe that i thought would be great for Thanksgiving this year. (2007) I was ask to bring this dessert but i had never made it, because it always gets runny and the bananas turn yucky brown. but i went through all your selections anyway and found this one that used lemon juice to preserve the color and freshness of the bananas, so i thought that would be one less problem... i made this recipe and took it to my family's home and it was such a hit they would not let me take it home ....everyone had to have some until the whole double batch was gone... this can sit for days in the fridge and not get watery.... i have made it several times since for every dinner we have attended and it always gets raves. i now carry copies of the recipe with me now for everyone who asks..... Thank You so much for making me look so talented in the kitchen! Peggy G. Indianapolis, IN
Reviews of Beef & Guinness Stew

Reviews of Lemon Peel Ricotta Creme
My whole family abolutely LOVES this recipe. I never imagined making a dessert out of ricotta cheese (I guess my sense of being a renaissance man is a little over blown!) In any case -- give it a shot. It's good stuff....

Reviews of Cowboy Brisket
I made this for Sunday dinner today and it was fabulous! The coffee really added to enrich the gravy without tasting like coffee. I may add even more onions next time because they were so yummy. The whole family loved it. Sadly, we had no leftovers. Do give this one a try. Thx, CG.
Reviews of Roasted Chestnuts
I love roasted chestnuts, and it's so great to find out how to make them without having them explode in your face! As I was not familiar with these little packages of joy, I was unaware that if you do not cut the cross into them, they will in fact explode. While roasting them last time, I did not make any incisions and as I was taking them out of the oven, over 3 exploded in my face and all over the room, extremely hot and I found myself with an almost 3rd degree burn as well as a room covered in chestnut snow!
Reviews of Black Beans and Rice
I have made this for the third time tonight, this is a delicious side dish! I like to increase the red pepper, it makes it spicy! Also, I use chicken stock instead of water.
Reviews of Beef and Cabbage Soup
I made this while my wife was out of town and the idea of soup was on my mind. I followed the recipe exactly and it was interesting. As it started off it was stinky but after about three hours it began to smell good. It was delicious, unfortunately it was salty enough so that I woke up in the middle of the night really thirsty. When I cook this again I plan on eliminating the 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt and using the whole head of cabbage, the A-1, Worcestershire sauce and bouillon cubes add plenty of salt.
Reviews of Microwave Fresh Asparagus
This veggie dish is absolutely fabulous. It has a nice light taste with the lemon juice, just the right amount of spices and when done microwaving, the asparagus is done just right, not too soft. Will definitely be making again. Thanks....
Reviews of Albondigas Meatball Soup
I really loved this recipe. Im not a fan of ground beef but i wanted to try this out anyway. Simmering is the key for this soup. I didnt have cilantro so i replaced it with Mint leaves(diced) and i also added Paprika and it was great! Cant wait to do it again. Thanks for the recipe!
Reviews of Red Cabbage Salad
A MUST try salad!!!!!!!! Exactly like you know who's salad. My spouse loves this recipe,he even makes the salad now. Do try!
Reviews of Jamaican Jerk Sauce
Okay, so I work in a Jamaican restaurant during the summertime with one of the world's premiere Jamaican chefs, and this stuff definitely, DEFINITELY, is authentic. Having visited Jamaica and after working under this guy, I can say with confidence that this is one of the best recipes I have ever found for jerk sauce. 4-6 scotch bonnets is a little much for my family to handle (but not for me), so we back it off a little and make it more of a
Reviews of Herbs de Provence
I would agree fennel, if over done, would not be a good mix. A slight amount is good if using the seasoning when mixing beef and pork for Italian meat dishes. However, the addition of sage is really good with pork and. if used lightly, on chicken.
Reviews of Potato Flake Sourdough Bread
I had this very same recipe, given to me in 1993. It is by far the best sourdough bread I have ever found. We kept the starter alive until last year. We made cranberry ,(made with Craisins) blueberry bread and cinnamon rolls out of this dough. The cranberry bread is excellent made into bread pudding. I omit the cinnamon and nutmeg, I usually use in bread pudding. This makes great bacon and lettuce sandwiches too. Very similar to Cracker Barrel. My mother made and sold this bread at flea markets and the local schools. She had a Illinois State Trooper and a city policeman that would hunt her down on the days she took this to school. They both would buy several loaves. The state trooper noticed mom didn't have a current sticker on her car, but hated to say anything to her because he loved her bread so much. He ran her plates and knew that she had purchased the sticker for each of the previous four years, but collected them in her glove compartment. I have starter going now and can't wait to feed and get the brea
Reviews of Oxtail Soup
This is so good! I absolutely love this soup! Beef tails make for a very rich broth. The onions give it a great boost and all the other spices are just perfect in this. I had never tried this sort of meat before but I'm glad I did. It is wonderful for soup, just wonderful! Thank You.
Reviews of Guinness Stout Brownies
I hope everyone will try this recipe just as written, because they are super-delicious - best brownie I've ever made or eaten! I've not made brownies any other way since finding the recipe - they are that good! But I just made them using 10 oz. of cola in place of the stout, and I thought they came out just as good as the original recipe. I mixed 2 packets of instant coffee granules into the Coke to enhance the chocolate (just like with the stout, you don't taste the coffee or the coke flavor.) I think I'll probably add the instant coffee again, next time I make them with stout (I use Young's Double Chocolate Stout instead of Guinness.) But you could also substitute 10 oz. of weak coffee or water (or even orange juice, to add a subtle hint of orange!) if you wanted to avoid using alcohol. Also, I substituted peanut butter chips for the white chocolate this time, but you couldn't really taste the PB. I think you could though, if the cup of chips scattered over the top at the end was PB instead of semi-sweet (b
Reviews of Penne alla Vodka
Recipe was great until I added the cheese, way too grainy. I wish I had listened to previous review. Next time I will have guests add cheese to taste. Otherwise I will make recipe as posted . Thanks !
Reviews of Easy Mardi Gras King Cake
I can not bake and I made this within a half hour. I used Nutella for one half and made a filling of pecans, honey, raisins and brown sugar for the other half as I don't care for cream cheese. I used color sugar sprinkles and it looked good and tasted good. I think this would also be a great way to make something savory by filling it with ham and swiss, smoked fish and cream cheese, etc. Thanks for the step by step photo instructions - it made a non baker like me look REALLY good. A must try for everyone.
Reviews of FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer V2860
Seriously, this isn't hard, people. We love our Foodsaver and use it almost daily. Most of the problems I've read here of people having is just common sense. After going through 5 Foodsavers because you ruin the machine by drawing liquid into it, you could read the nifty little booklet they sent with it saying that you should freeze liquids in the bags for a few hours before sealing. Presto ! Problem solved. It's a great machine and we've saved a ton of money using it. I really hate to think others will be put off of buying this because of undeserved bad reviews.

Reviews of 30 Minute Mozzarella Cheese
I work at new England Cheesemaking Supply Co. where we have a kit for making Mozzarella in 30 minutes. The recipe you feature was our original recipe eight years ago. Reviews of Parmesan Crust Pork Tenderloin
I used the sage instead of ground cumin. It was way too much sage. The tenderloin looked green. Not very appetizing to look at. The flavor was very good. I would not fix a tenderloin this way again. Maybe with just the parmesan would be good.
Reviews of Lentil Soup
I am a cook enthusiast and like to experiment on recipes. I have cooked a lot of soups in my life; but have NEVER cooked and tasted anything this DELICIOUS. Simply HEAVENLY. Added 1/2 tsp paprika to give the soup a little zest. Used 2cups lentils and 1/2 cup split peas.
Reviews of Chocolate Graham Toffee Bark
I was looking for an easy, quick recipe using graham crackers, because mine were getting a little long in the tooth and I wanted to use them up. Found this recipe via Google. It looked pretty easy, and I had nothing to lose by using up my old graham crackers. Had everything on hand, so I gave it a shot. Wow! Killer result. I did substitute roasted peanuts for the macademia nuts (cheaper and I already had them!). Now I'm keeping an eye on the adds for graham crackers when they have the BOGO sales because I get so many requests from family, friends, and ugh...the office. I'll be giving these for Xmas presents fer shure. I probably won't share this recipe...for awhile anyways. I'm enjoying the star limelight too much right now! :) Thanks!
Reviews of Hamburgers Diane
This was awesome, thank goodness I doubled the sauce as we put it on the green beans and potatoes , too. I didn't add as much salt as the recipe called for and it was plenty. This is a number 1 recipe!

Reviews of Choco Chip Meltaway Cookies
This was one of two recipes I got from this site to make to send to a friend who is serving in Afghanistan. They turned out great coming out of the over -- very easy to make. They stay small and do not spread out -- so you can put more than usual on your cookie sheet. I'll let you know if they make it in one piece overseas. I'll make another batch for myself.
Reviews of Non-alcoholic Eggnog
It's delicious! My family all like it. I tripled the recipe and used medium-low heat, based on other reviewers' comments about how long it took. I stirred constantly and used a meat thermometer to monitor the temp. It took about 30 minutes. Strained through a sieve and only got a tiny bit of egg whites. Added more nutmeg than the recipe called for. Try it--you'll like it!

Reviews of Meatball Sliders Recipe
I took a tray of these to a church potluck, and they were a big hit. Everyone raved over them, and asked me to please bring them again. Needless to say, there were no leftovers. Though you couud certainly make your own meatballs, using the storebought frozen ones is what makes this recipe so fast to make. There is almost no work at all in preparing these, and they cook really fast. If you have the ingredients on hand, you could have these on the table in a flash. I'm having company for the Christmas holidays this week. I plan to make them, along with a pot of broccoli cheddar cheese soup one night.
Reviews of Super Fig Cobbler
I usually avoid recipes with more than one step, but this one was worth the effort it took this lazy cook. The spices were perfect and the cheddar cheese pastry was a wonderful accompaniment to the figs. I heartily recommend this recipe to everyone, but be sure you have plenty of figs on hand. Once your family tastes this, you will need to make another one, soon!
